GST Taxpayers Receive Relief: GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B Filing Deadlines Extended Due to Technical Issues on GST Portal

In the Age of Information, news media faces both unprecedented opportunities and significant challenges.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has extended the filing deadlines for the GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B GST returns by two days each following technical difficulties reported by GSTN.

The new deadline for monthly GSTR-1 filers is January 13, 2025, while the extended deadline for quarterly filers is now January 15, 2025.
Similarly, the monthly GSTR-3B returns filing deadline has been extended to January 22, 2025. For quarterly GSTR-3B filers, deadlines differ by region, with some states having a new deadline of January 24, 2025, and others set to January 26, 2025.

On January 10, 2025, the CBIC announced on X (formerly Twitter), “To accommodate taxpayers who couldn’t meet the original deadlines due to technical issues, the deadline for filing FORM GSTR-1 for the December 2024 tax period has been extended to January 13, 2025. Additionally, the deadline for FORM GSTR-1 filings for the October to December 2024 quarter under the QRMP Scheme has been extended to January 15, 2025.”
