Japan down more than 2.5 percent as China rebounds on trade hopes

  • Asia markets were mixed on Friday following sharp declines in U.S. stocks overnight as a dire quarterly warning from Apple stoked fears of a slowdown in the global economy.
  • Shares in Australia and Japan fell in afternoon trade, with the Nikkei 225 in Tokyo dropping more than 2.5 percent.
  • The mainland Chinese markets bounced back strongly on the back of developments on the U.S.-China trade front and positive economic data.
